Tush Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Hello everyone! I was plaging some tekkit with some friends on a server which I set up, and I was digging happily away, swinging my pick as some rock and was just going about my business. When suddenly the rock changed to dirt. I was neglecting this because they have the same EMC value anyway so I just kept digging. After some time I realized that I was not mining stone but that the stone changed to redstone! I was surprised to see this and I was wondering if I could remove the mod which did this (assuming it is a mod) because we all find this highly annoying because you cannot see the ore when it is not directly mined. Hoping for a speedy respond to our question, Tush Quote
Torezu Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 You have serious lag issues, probably. The item you're digging will show up as smooth stone if the server isn't correctly transmitting the block ID. Also, don't sign your posts. Quote
Tush Posted July 26, 2012 Author Posted July 26, 2012 Sorry for signing my post... force of habit. And how can I have a serious lagg issue on my own server running from my own PC? Quote
Tush Posted July 26, 2012 Author Posted July 26, 2012 Additional info; I was mining when suddenly the block changed to gravel, while the block below it was gone already. Which means it should have fallen down, even if the server transmits clearstone. But it didn't :S Quote
Torezu Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Gravel can hang from the ceiling. I honestly don't know what the cause of this is, as I've only seen it on my personal server once, and it went away on its own after a couple days. Quote
HalibutBarn Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 I think it's just a bug that's been in the core Minecraft engine for ages. I remember running into it at some point way back in maybe even late alpha, or early beta. Logging out and back in again usually fixed it. Quote
danidas Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Its a long term bug with the minecraft world gen code that places sand and gravel. That causes floating sand/gravel that defy logic until they receive a block update. I think it is due to the fact that when it is placed by world gen or mcedit it treats it like dirt/stone until a block update occurs and it realizes that it should fall. As for what you mentioned the default tekkit server no longer comes with any plugins installed. As it only has the mods and nothing more to allow you to customize it how ever you want. Quote
