Installing mods

since this doesn't use normal minecraft folders and jars i cant figure out how to install other mods.. I've been trying to install 1.1 improved chat but when i put in the jar in the tekkit folder it does nothing. How do i install other mods to the tekkit client?

1.1 improved chat is a plugin I believe, place in the plugin folder and BAM it should work.

It is the same as installing plugins in bukkit.

Mods would go in the mod folder obviously.

Improved chat is a client sided mod and it normally installs into your minecraft.jar. but i can't get it to work in tekkit but it did before tekkit switched to the launcher instead of the installer

If that's true then you most likely want to put it in modpack.jar. You should treat that jar as minecraft.jar for the purpose of mod installation instructions.
