Keep server running without players

I have a tekkit running on a server that some friends play on but they have things set up that take time to complete and having the game continue in the background while they arent there would be handy. is there a way to keep the game working and operating without players? (pipes still transfer materials, pumps pump, things keep moving as they would)

Build World Anchors

Although the biggest server I've run is on my own desktop for me and a friend, in the times when we are out, break etc it is nice to let the quarries continue, collecting energy.

Basically you can build RailCraft World Anchors, but they limit it to 3x3 chunk area round it. If you are running the latest build, 3.1.2 then you have Dimensional Anchors and you can set their chunk load area in the chunk it's in 1x1, 3x3, 5x5 and 7x7. I find these better as the configuring option is good. Also they are cheaper than RailCraft anchors to make unless you spawn them in.
