Nope. It's impossible to fix, completely, without using the search bar or Google. You should try it sometime. Quote

Torezu Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Google isn't the answer to everything you know... No, but in this case you would have had an answer far faster, at least enough to know to reduce the memory you're trying to dedicate to the server. Quote

Tymon015223 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Either some of these people don't know how to use Google or they ACTUALLY live in the past Some people aren't super tech savvy. They are probably people who just want to play a game with friends but have never touched the actual components of a computer. And google sometimes doesn't help. Hell, I didn't know how to port forward for a good year after I got a router and that's without asking for help, not knowing what I'm doing, and using Google. It's like looking a an engine for a car or a plane with no prior knowledge of anything to do with it. You would be completely lost and wouldn't know where to start. Rather than getting aggravated with them, tell them what to do so they can then pass their knowledge on and so forth. Quote

How the hell do I install a tekkit server so me and my friend can play on it? Any guide on that? >_> I was actually thinking about making a guide that explains everything. But just look up how to portforward. Here's a site to help you http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm I would explain it to you but it's different for everyone. To use the server make sure you download it from the tekkit page, make sure you and your friends are using the same version as the server, then run the launch.bat. Of course do this after you port forward and it should work. Quote

You probably got this solved but in case anyone else encounters it, like I did yesterday, there might be another issue which I never came across while googling. I have 12GB of RAM, and it wouldn't work, after previously working, following a fresh windows 64bit install. The issue was that my browser (Chrome) is only a 32bit browser and therefore when it went to the Java download page, it automatically assigned me the 32bit version of Java - when I needed the 64bit version to allow it to access all my memory. I needed to go to the manual Java download page (http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp) to get the 64bit version. After that installed it worked without issue. Quote

That might help considering I and others have helped this problem multiple times before. Change the 3 and 2 in -Xmx3g and -Xms2g to match the amount of RAM you want to allow Tekkit to use. It can't be more than you have. If that doesn't work make sure you download a 64bit Java if you're on a 64bit OS. Quote
