New desktop

My, well more like my parents desktop is about 9 years old so I can't run tekkit on it. It cost £1000 when my dad brought it, so he has no intention of getting a replacement. I need something that will run modern games plus do all of the regular shit such as homework and internet.

Does anyone have any suggestions/ recommendations.

Desktop? build it yourself. You'll get much higher quality for your money. Also, it isn't actually very hard.
