0 Zdragow Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 From what it sounds like, you're opening the downloaded "Linux/Jar file" from the website as a folder, not as an executable .jar file. Am I correct in thinking that?
0 Zdragow Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Then there's your problem, hoss. Exit out of the technic-launcher-latest folder. Right click on the file and hover over "Open with", then choose "Select default program..." Now we have to find the Java SE Binary file. This is easy. Go to "C:/Program Files(x86)/Java/ [your java 6 or 7 folder here] /bin" and find the "Java" file. Just the "Java" file. Double-click it.
0 Bolt732 Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 Okay, and now it will run as a program?
0 Zdragow Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Let's hope. Now run your now executable .jar file, and hopefully it'll work.
0 Bolt732 Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 A small black screen poppud up with some white letters on it, like a coding sort of thing, it went back down after half a second of so.
0 Zdragow Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Is it not doing anything else? Nothing else popping up?
0 Zdragow Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Before we continue any further, are you absolutely sure you're running 64-bit Java?
0 Bolt732 Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 Yes, I am sure. I tried a couple things.
0 Zdragow Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Does that include going to the control panel and opening up "Programs and Features", looking in the "J"s and seeing if Java has (64-bit) written next to it?
0 Bolt732 Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 It did not, but I just did that and it it was 64-bit.
0 Zdragow Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Alright, good. The only thing I can say for now is try reinstalling Java completely and running "technic-launcher-latest.jar" as an administrator. Also, try relocating the .jar file in question to the ".techniclauncher" folder in your "Roaming" folder if it's not already there.
0 Bolt732 Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 Okay. I will do just that, and see if it works.
0 Zdragow Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Excellent. Hopefully it does; otherwise, I'll be stumped.
0 Bolt732 Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 It flashed the screen with one of the loading screens, to dissapear half a second later saying this: Checking Launcher Version
0 Bolt732 Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 I do believe I have created a unsolvable riddle of code -_-
0 Zdragow Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Try using the "technic-launcher.jar" file in your ".techniclauncher" folder again. Not the latest one. I'm not sure why it's not working.
0 Bolt732 Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 That brings up the splash screen that neither loads nor crashes.
0 Zdragow Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Welp, I'm stumped then. It should be working.
0 Bolt732 Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 Huh. Wierd.. I will try and find some more fixes. Thank you for your time.
0 Zdragow Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Not a problem. I'll see if I can think of any other solutions in the meantime.
0 Torezu Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Huh. Wierd.. I will try and find some more fixes. Thank you for your time. Friendly tip: That quick flash of black command-prompt screen usually means the launcher can't find your Java directory for whatever reason. Try adding Java to your system path variable if it's not already there. Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings > Advanced tab > Environment variables... > Click on Path and then Edit... > add exactly this to the end of the Variable value (without the quotes): ";C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin"
