deejkdeejk Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Hey, all. I've been playing Tekkit for a few months now, and I have a pretty moderate grasp on how the add-ons all interact with one another. However, I was thinking about opening a small server (16-24 people, initially) but I'm totally clueless when it comes to in-game glitches and dupes. What items should I ban on my server to prevent such, and/or are there ways to circumvent this kind of cheating? I'd like to keep as few items banned as possible, so if anyone knows of commonly abused bugs, I'd appreciate if they could let me know about them! Thanks, guys.
andrewdonshik Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Check out the server OP swap shop. It's got some stickies with info on dupes.
warpspeed10 Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Here's what you need to do. Open up you server to just friends and people you trust. Make sure it is whitelisted. This gives you the opportunity to learn the nuances of administrating a tekkit server. There are many, many items that bypass conventional bukkit protection plugins. Having a server up and running, and being able to have fun with your friends in a grief free environment. This setting allows you to try out different plugins and server-side fixes. You can have your friends test out how effective different plugins are, and have them building cool things to make the map look more populated. Once you have a good grasp on what permissions you need to set, and what items you cannot fix and must disable, then you open it up to the public. Finally, you must remember that all great servers have some uniquely creative spin on the generic survival aspect. Think of what can set your server apart from everyone else. A final word of warning, do not cram donation requests down people's throats. You need to think of a fun and exiting way of making people want to donate, other than getting free quantum (the defacto donation reward on all shitty anarchy servers).
deejkdeejk Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 Thank you guys for the advice. Insightful post, warp.
