Joseph Petek Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 I was wondering why ComputerCraft 1.4 is not included in the Tekkit portion. It is compatible with servers and Technic has it. I just really hate having to rewrite lua for my tekkit that I already have done for my Technic.
Backplague Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 It has to wait until all the mods in Tekkit have been updated to 1.3 and ported to the latest version of bukkit. Also one thing i forgot. Since 1.3 changed that SP worlds are just local SMP servers, Tekkit could be useless when it hits 1.3. Since all mods will work in SP, they will work in SMP. Technic could be the new Tekkit after 1.3.
Joseph Petek Posted September 11, 2012 Author Posted September 11, 2012 1.41 is for MC 1.25 and has been ported to the bukkit server and works great. I have a modded bukkit server just running the CC mod so far. Also I have been playing MC 1.32 and the SSP is just for LANs I thought. Still have to take into account config files of all the mods and all that other stuff. I don't think tekkit will be going anywhere soon, it has a nice niche market in the modded server world, because it is to much of a hassle for a lot of people to deal with the configs all the time and then try to share those configs with everyone that wants to play. It isn't impossible, just a hassle to do it on your own.

There is no such thing as single player anymore as something distinct from multiplayer in the new MInecraft. Thus, there is no longer any reason to have two separate modpacks (technic and tekkit) for compatibility with two game modes, because there is only one gamemode: servers. Thus, it is likely that some combination of tekkit and technic will replace both and end up being the only option needed or available.

I thought it was limited to LAN connections though. I haven't played with it much, have been waiting for all the mods I love to catch up before working on figuring it out. I know there are servers like Meepcraft that have been updated and run bukkit stuff for the 1.32. Guess I am just confused how you would server 100's of people on a locally hosted Technic or whatever it will be called. Will be interesting to see.
Backplague Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 No, what I mean is SP stays local and only people in LAN can join and bukkit will stay worldwide and anyone in the world can join. But because SP worlds are just servers, all mods will work in MP.
SarzaelX Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 That... That... THAT MEANS... MULTIPLAYER AETHER... Once they update. Edit: Also multiplayer Zeppelin Mod (The one with controller block to drive any thing as if it was a ship)

No. But the only reason they can't is there's probably like 2 lines of code that say "don't let other dudes outside of LAN connect if we are in quote unquote 'single player'" AND, there should be an option built into minecraft that allows you to simply host your "singleplayer" worlds as a server with the click of a button in-game. I haven't had a chance to look at the new client yet, but if they didn't include that option, they're being really dumb.

So, if for example i host an LAN World with my singleplayer only mods, will the other player on my house who also has those mods installed in client be able to play those mods with me? Awesome!
gavjenks Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Like I said, I haven't actually played 1.3 yet, or looked at the options available, but that SHOULD be possible to do. If Mojang didn't include it themselves, then I'm sure there is or will soon be a simple GUI mod that adds those buttons and functionality in for you.
