Can't Connect to Tekkit Server

Before you ask, I've read all the stickies and spent a good hour trying to figure this out.

I have a dedicated server which means configuring Windows/launch.bat and all that is useless. I've tried to install the server but when I connect I get a java.net.socketexception error. I have the latest version of java (7).

Any help would be much appreciated, this is getting very irritating.

Summary:

Server version: 2.1.1

Client version: 1.1

Java version: 7

Error message: "Internal exception: java.net.SocketException: Software caused connection abort"

Is that all you get when you try to run it or just the most pertinent? If there's more, pastebin the rest for us.

That's all I get for me, the server log looks fine.

Any way you could've forgot to forward the server's ports, made a typo in the port or something like that?

I don't see how

The only things I could think of were the lack of the bukkit snapshot and the actual "minecraft_server.jar" files, but it worked without them when I hosted a local server.
