Technic launcher wont open

Operating System: Windows XP

Java Version: Java 7 (latest)

Antivirus Program: Ad-Aware

Description of Problem:

I try to open the latest technic launcher i downloaded from the website but it brings up this error, theres nothing wrong with my java or computer, i tried everything i could but it wont work, can anyone help me?

[FIXED!] if you have the same problem, just download the .jar file, right click it, mouse over "Open With..." and select java

That is not an error message, try finding a launcher log, reinstall everything.

Okay, care to tell the rest of the world? In the chance that someone else has the same issue, I can pretty well guarantee they may be upset to see you had the same problem, but didn't post your solution.

Per MS support, that error exists only on Windows XP, and is fixed by uninstalling ".NET Framework 2.0" and reinstalling it as described here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908077

i mainly fixed it by downloading the .jar file, and then opening it with java

then it opens the technic launcher without errors :D
