Oi! no console wars, kids, or so help me, i WILL turn this thread around.

But if you turn the thread around, people reading the posts in reverse order won't have a clue what's going on o_O

Anywho, OP, just ditch Java 7 entirely so you don't give your computer a chance to fight back. If anything I would delete all your versions and start again, but I can assume that Macs would prevent that from happening.

yea thats what iv been tryna do! now i put java -version into the console and it comes back with:

java version "1.6.0_37"

Java SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_37-b06-434-11M3909)

Java HotSpot 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.12-b01-434, mixed mode)

Am i the only guy seeing java 6 on there?

It says i still have bloody java 7 here. now all i need is to find the console commands to swap default java to 6 not 7. yes? plz tell me im close coz i got a good mind to take it to apple and tell them to fucking well fix it as they broke it

also is there something wrong with the modpack? looks like it but i know nothing about this

i found a java vm thingy and it had some details that said java version 6 is what its using?

It sounds like you have more than one java version installed. Your console is saying Java 6, but your log shows that you're still using java 7.

What worked for me was to go Macintosh HD/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines, then delete the 1.7 JDK file that was there. (make sure to have your library visible first)

that path no longer is available to follow. the java software uses it but it dont exist for following thru files

It exists, Mac OS X just hides it by default. All you have to do is enter "chflags nohidden ~/Library/" into terminal, go to the path, delete the 1.7 Java JDK, then the launcher works again, no scripting required.

OI! Last warning. Next person who offers an OS change as a solution is getting kellered.
