what you mean you found my problem? is it the newest apple update fucking it up?

They're being a troll.

Java Version: latest
is not a valid answer.

Luckily, the log you copied provides the actual answer, which happens to be root cause of the issue (Java version).

You need to force OS X to use Java 6. An example of how to do this is in this thread.

I had this same problem but found the answer here

http://forums.technicpack.net/threads/launcher-crashing-to-desktop-while-installing-modpacks.28315/

That gets the Launcher to open but once I try logging in with Technic selected it says checking for update to minecraft.jar. It appears to download minecraft.jar three times and then shows a box saying Update Failed!

I am on OSX 10.7.5 forcing Java 1.6 to run on Technic launcher 1.0.2.0

Also I can get the Tekkit set to open and run but the rest will not open via the Technic Launcher.

This isn't related at all. Also, there are about 5 other topics with the same error message on it that you could have leached onto.

My apologies, it seemed that N3RO was having the same problem that I was earlier and thought that he might possibly run into the same problem as me afterwards. I've been trying to find a solution to this problem all day.

From what I've read Java 6 is still there somewhere and that's how we can get the Launcher to start with the terminal commands. I still don't know why there is a mismatch in the download process. This comes up in the log 'Downloaded 'minecraft.jar' does not matche MD5 of any known minecraft version!'. I think it may be that the Launcher is recognizing the 1.4.2 update as a valid minecraft build. I don't exactly know however. I don't know what the MD5 part means.

On a side note, you and I are the only two I have found so far with this problem running on Mac 10.7.5.

The definition of a sticky is a thread that is "pinned" on top of a section. They're right there at the first page...

No. Teach a man to fish, blah blah blah.

okay and which sticky is it? i read the ones at the top of this section and cant find it. link me it plz? ill give you many cookie points!!

Use your brain and think about it for two seconds to a minute.

Notice the major divisions with the boards. What areas can you rule out as not being applicable. Think "Hmm, would this be covered in the LP section? Random art? Server advertisments? Or is this a more specific issue? Is it an issue with Tekkit itself, or could it be an issue with the launcher?"

You also need to look at _all_ the messages being produced, not just those in the log itself. Not everyone knows to look there.

Deductive reasoning skills are your friend and will help you from being just another fucking leach on these forums.

EDIT - added unseen quote
