Launcher is already open

Description of Problem:

When I try to open the technic launcher, the little window that says "Checking launcher version" pops up like usual for a few seconds, but then another one pops up saying "Cannot check launcher version, the launcher is already open!"

I've tried all I could think of, i.e. retrying, logging out and back in, etc., and the launcher is most definetely not open on my hotbar,

and nothing seems to work!

Help!

"Cannot check launcher version, the launcher is already open!

Go into task manager and make sure it is not running in the background. If it is just end the program and try again.

I have the same problem and after looking through the tak manager i didn't find any sign of it being open. i'm not sure if i'm missing something but any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'v tried ending process/ending the process tree for java.exe and it has no affect

You used your task manager right?

Yeah, windows task manager.

Clicking the 'end process' button with java selected will end Java. If it doesn't you've got a pretty significant problem with your computer. One that I can't help with.
