Jojash Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 So, recently, I've been playing Tekkit and I seem to be experiencing some serious FPS issues, sometimes to the point where the game is unplayable. It seems to be worse if I'm idle for a while and I come back or if I look at a jungle. I don't believe it's to do with my computer as it can run other games, such as Fallout 3 or Borderlands 2, on the highest settings with no lag whatsoever, I've tried playing around with the video settings on Tekkit but they seem to make no difference whatsoever. If anyone can help I'd be very grateful! Quote
Jorcer Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Try turning off IC2 sounds in the IC2 config file. Quote
Jojash Posted October 28, 2012 Author Posted October 28, 2012 That has helped somewhat, it doesn't seem to lag after idling as much, but it does still have quite bad lag when I'm looking at jungles. Quote

freakachu Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 also make doubly sure that you are using 64-bit java if you're on a 64-bit machine. the launcher has a habit of using 32-bit even when you try to tell it not to. Quote

Jorcer Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Not wanting to thread-jack but how do you do that? You uninstall any other Java's you have and then download the correct one. Quote

I am using 64-bit java, it's the only one I have installed. Tweaking the settings in Optifine should help. Are you using a hi res texture pack? I've tried switching to the default Minecraft texture pack and that's made no difference. I'm not sure what you mean by Optifine, but if you can point me in the right direction, I'll certainly give that a go, do you have any suggestions as to what I should be tweaking? Quote
Jorcer Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Optifine is a mod included in the pack that alows for way more graphics options. I am on my phone atm but when I get on my computer I will edit with some sugestions. Quote

Jorcer Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 There is an issue with NVidia cards IIRC, there is also a way to fix it, but I can't remember how atm. I will look and see if I can find what it was. Quote
Jojash Posted October 30, 2012 Author Posted October 30, 2012 I may have found it myself, actually, http://forums.technicpack.net/threads/low-fps-in-tekkit.12688/ After following the steps in Stathol's post I don't seem to be having frame rate issues anymore! Again, thank you all very much for all your help! :) Quote
