Description of Problem:

loads minecraft.jar 3 times then says update failed (used to work)

I have this as well, and it can't be Norton because I have AVG and it's still doing it to me.

Then it could be AVG doing it to you. AVG is also known to cause problems (even if disabled). If you want more help than that make your own bug report.

Then your issue is your Java. Your computer thinks you have 32 bit Java. You need to uninstall all Java versions you have and then download Java 7u9 64bit for Windows (don't get the JDK version that is just for coders)

I have the same problem, and I use McAfee 8.7, Enterprise Edition. On Access Scan (OAS) is Enabled. When I disable it, there is no difference in the technic launcher, and I don't want to get anything but McAfee, due to previous hacks into my computer, SpyWare, Malware, general trojan viruses, et cetera. I am running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-Bit, with 16 gigs of RAM. If it makes a difference, my video card is an ATI Radeon 3800 HD, running one Asus 1680X1050 Monitor, and one other Dell 1920X1080 monitor. ALSO: I am running Java 7 64 bit, and I've tried all sorts of versions to no avail. Help is necessary to my survival (world in single player)!

You need to post your own bug report. By posting a new report, you provide us important info that we need to help you and also let the OP get personalized help in his thread.

ummmm....ok thanks for trying to help but i try to load it this morning and it worked fine? lol ty though :)

The pack was recently updated to fix the issue that the top sticky dealt with. Seeing as it was fixed, your issue was the same as that one. Glad you got it working though.
