Hey guys, I'm new to the forums but I was just wondering, am I crossbreeding correctly? I'm trying to make hops but whenever I try and crossbreed it just makes the same plant. I do the normal method of putting a 3 by 3 square with a water hole in the middle one crop north east south and west plant to seeds wait for them to grow plant two crops in the corners and wait. But when I try to crossbreed netherwart for example it just makes a new netherward. Am I doing something wrong? thanks

No, the process is random. When cross breeding the same plant with itself, you are most likely to get the same plant. You crossbreed again. With 2 different plants, it's most likely to be one or the other. It's a random process, so any combination has about as much chance as any other, unless it involves the plant you want to breed.
