Sargent_Blockson
As a resident of the West Midlands (Shrewsbury to be exact) I've always seen these monolithic gas drums on the M1. My parents told me that they were last used when they were small children before we found gas in the north sea. Before then we had coal but no gas and very little oil in the UK but large coal reserves. They would create coke from coal in the gas works and use the gas to heat peoples homes. My idea is to create something similar to the railcraft coke oven that converts coal into coal gas that powers generators and furnaces like coal but lasts 5 minuets of use until being exhausted. Can someone give me instructions how to do this, also you are free to use this idea, after Wednesday I won't have as much time on my hands as I do now. MaggotKing
Boilers have been added to power steam engines. I guess it wont be very long till we see something like steam power furnaces.

Then again steam engines like these would be nice. http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=steam+engine&um=1&hl=en&safe=off&sa=N&tbo=d&biw=1517&bih=714&tbm=isch&tbnid=RO9-bnAZ1xOciM:&imgrefurl=http://www.egr.msu.edu/~lira/supp/steam/&docid=S5ceA8_AJmm9PM&imgurl=http://www.egr.msu.edu/~lira/supp/images/newcomen.gif&w=583&h=438&ei=2Z2wUIv9DqTD0QXwn4HoAw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=482&vpy=338&dur=459&hovh=195&hovw=258&tx=72&ty=80&sig=112957442606024670782&page=1&tbnh=144&tbnw=191&start=0&ndsp=26&ved=1t:429,r:11,s:0,i:
MaggotKing
I don't see why there would be a need to heat people's homes in Minecraft. It would just be another liquid mod makers would have to code.

Basically a gas power station, producing a moderate amount of power for low tier development .
