Technic and Tekkit work perfectly! The other mods, however...

Description of Problem:

My problem starts with every other mod other than Technic and Tekkit being unable to update on my laptop. Each time I try to run a mod other than the ones mentioned above, I recieve a message right after my minecraft.jar file is 99% downloaded saying that the update fails.

Something I feel significant is that I also own a desktop which I also have logged into the Technic Launcher with my profile on both computers. My desktop is able to run all of the mods; Technic, Tekkit, Hack/Mine, Yogbox, Vanilla, etc.

What I would like to find out is why my laptop cannot do what my desktop can, and if using my profile on 2 different computers is hindering the updating process.

Also, I don't know where the error would begin and/or end in the log file, but I hope there will be something out of place than what would normally be there.

Update your Java to version 7 and turn off Norton. Then redownload the pack.

Surely you're not so ignorant that you can't remember that there's no 1.4.4 patches to anything other than 1.2.5, which is why Technic dev builds don't work at all?

Surely you are not so ignorant that you think that every single problem on this site is caused by that. While it is very possible that the issue is the one you and others are experiencing, the update failed issue can also be caused by having Norton or other troublesome AV blocking the download and having the incorrect java version. I fail to see the issue with dispensing completely viable help before simply saying, nope you are SOL.
