Hey everyone!

I hope this is the right area to post this kind of thread and if it's not please move it and let me know for future reference! Thanks!

I've been working on a modpack for me and my friends and upon opening it in the launcher it is Vanilla. I was wondering if one of you kind forum members could tell me if I'm needing a mod for the pack or I need to change around some files. Here is the dropbox file that I am using for the pack. (I changed the 1 to a 0 so you guys don't think I'll be giving you all viruses, I know to change it back.) https://www.dropbox.com/s/nkyp5n5tobt04pb/town_of_realms.zip?dl=0

I see a few issues:

1) You downloaded the Recommended versions of the mods from Chicken Bones, get the Latest ones instead.

2) Get the Universal versions, not the Source (src) ones. 

3 You don't have a full set of config files for the mods, this indicates that the pack has not been successfully launched yet. 

I'll see if I can launch the pack later with these changes.

Okay, I will work those out. Thanks for the help! I'll edit this post once I have fixed all the issues.

 

Edit 1: Testing it now, I'm confused on what you mean by all the configs. Do I get them from Users/Bree/Library/Application\ Support/technic/modpacks/town-of-realms/config or ...?

no, the config files are generated automatically once the pack is launched once. Then you can go back and make any changes you need.

Odd, surprisingly I reinstalled it and the mods are loading. *crosses fingers for luck!*

 

Edit 1: No mods are loading except Forge, FML, and Minecraft Coder Pack, I'm checking the config in the technic folder.

 

Edit 2: I have gained 3 config files. Forge.cfg, Forge.ChunkLoading.cfg, splash.properties.

Did you pack launch?

Remember to increment your modpack version number in your tekkit modpack control panel when making any changes so your friends get your fixes.

Okay! Thanks for the info. Sadly after adding those configs there was no mods in the pack. https://www.dropbox.com/s/797vkipk24ncnuc/aetherpirate.zip?dl=0 is my modpack in the technic folder and the .zip I have uploaded to dropbox.

Also, would it be too late to add the portal gun mod?

Can you provide the link to your modpack on Tecnnic? That would be easier to work with.

Your pack should be named modpack.zip and contain just these three folders

bin -- contains forge universal, re-named to modpack.jar.

config -- mod config files, generated after pack launches once 

mods -- your .jar files for your mods

 

Using Plowman's Barebones modpack makes it very easy to build a pack, use that if you are stuck.

Well then, naming it not modpack.zip was one of my faults. Thanks. I'll try Plowmans Barebones and hopefully that'll help. I'll keep you posted, I'll be back around 4 your time. (We have the same time zone if you find that weird.)

Okay so I tested BareBonesPack and I sucessfully made a pack. I have it uploaded to dropbox (https://www.dropbox.com/s/q3dhm4ttwy4piqp/modpack.zip?dl=0 ~ Yes, it's a 1 not a 0 in the settings.) and I have it in the technic launcher but upon installing I get this. "Error unzipping a file from the following pack: Town of Rift Realms. Attempting to extract file town-of-rift-realms-1.0.zip, but it did not exist. Please consult the modpack author." The file in dropbox is modpack.zip.

Nevermind, it's downloading now after adding an update (1.1, added Hats Mod) but it says downloading mod NAME-1.0.zip not NAME-1.1.zip. Not sure if hats is there though.

Usch, now there are no mods?!

I think I messed something up with Dropbox so I'm reuploading it. Hopefully this fixes this issue.

I fixed the dropbox issue but there are no mods! In the link I have mods but nothing is in game!

The update has been added but no mods are in the pack... :/ I'm recreating a dropbox account to be tested for reuse of the modpack but I am not entirely sure if that is the case.

Finally the 3rd update/changelog went into place but unfortunately there are still no mods.

 

I'm not really sure what to do now as there must be something completely wrong but I have no clue what it is.

Your modpack.zip file should have just these folders:

Bin -- contains forge universal renamed to modpack.jar

mods -- all your .jar files for your mods

config -- config files that are generated after you launch it once. 

Don't put these folders inside another folder, they need to be at the root.

Ohhh! I'm a true idiot xD

 

Since I'm on a mac if I put stuff in a folder named modpack it compresses it into modpack.zip. That must be my issue. Thank you so much!

@JaariAtmc  :D Glad to know.

@AetherPirate I've gotten the pack worked out but do you know a way around the technic launcher not displaying the newest changelog/updates until hours later. It's gotten a bit tedious to keep having to reupload to dropbox and wait to retest over and over. I assume there's a quick way to refresh this?

Mine usually updates within minutes. 

I update Dropbox, increment my pack version number, close launcher, wait 2 min, reopen launcher, and update prompt is displayed when I launch my pack.
