Tartarus Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 Error downloading a file for the following pack: (pack name) Failed to download https://www.dropbox.com/s/qg27bt01v8fv7r8/modpack.zip?dl=0 please consult the modpack author. Hello. I've attempted to find videos and read some of these post on here and I've followed all steps but clearly i'm missing something. 1. Went to file.minecraftforge.net to get the appropriate version. In my test run i decided for no reason to utilize 1.7.2 2. I then created a folder named "modpack" on the desktop and within created two more folders all in lower case named "bin" and "mods" within the "modpack" folder 3. I dropped the 1.7.2 universal download from the minecraft forge website in the bin and two 1.7.2 mods in the "mods" folder. build craft and IC2 (just a test run) 4. I utilized winrar to zip the files up 5. I went to the dropbox. dropped the zipped file in there, clicked shared, copied that link and went to technic website. 6. I went to create modpack, named the pack, pasted the link from the shared menu from dropbox, and made sure the version of it lined up with 1.7.2 7. uploaded some pictures for my amusement and then attempted to grab the file on the technic launcher. I got the error: Error downloading a file for the following pack: (pack name) Failed to download https://www.dropbox.com/s/qg27bt01v8fv7r8/modpack.zip?dl=0 please consult the modpack author. Now being that i am the author. i've dropped the ball some where and i dont know what to do. Any assistance would be valued greatly.
Moderators AetherPirate Posted May 31, 2016 Moderators Posted May 31, 2016 (edited) First thing, reconsider using 1.7.2, unless the mods you want are only in that version. Decide first which mods will be in your pack and choose the highest common denominator of Minecraft version. Odds are it will be 1.7.10. Second, look here for proper Dropbox syntax: https://www.circlecraft.info/hosts/ Edited May 31, 2016 by AetherPirate
Tartarus Posted May 31, 2016 Author Posted May 31, 2016 Okay i'll run a test with 1.7.10 next. I took a look at the link you sent and made my drop box link in compliance with that one. It worked... however no mods ran, it just went straight vanilla. So good news is i got the modpack running on the technic launcher... bad news no mods showed up. every mod was 1.7.2 compliant.

Tartarus Posted May 31, 2016 Author Posted May 31, 2016 Correct, forge.jar reads modpack.jar and is in the bin folder by itself. I just ran 1.7.10 test. followed the same steps as i mentioned in the first post, test mods were as followed: NEI - codechickencore - Extrafood - biomesOplenty - pam's harvestcraft So far I'm able to launch the game from technic launcher in the 1.7.10 and in single player its not reflecting what mods i've zipped up in the mods folder.

We weren't able to download your modpack using the link above, so we are kinda guessing what is happening. Could you update that link up there?

JaariAtmc Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 2 hours ago, Tartarus said: http://api.technicpack.net/modpack/barney-test Your modpack.jar is actually called modpack.jar.jar. This has been a bit of a confusing thing around, I know, but if you were to rename the jar to "modpack" it would work. While you are at it, get NEI from the official source: http://chickenbones.net/Pages/links.html And get Extra Food from the official source: http://mods.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraft/222348-extra-food
