theory Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 I am a programmer with plenty of experience regarding minecraft mods. I would like to volunteer to update Hack/Mine to base 1.4.5 . I would post my suggestions for handling the new content for concept review before implementation. With an official go-ahead, and source access, I can start immediately. Please let me help!
theory Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 Independently, none. I've assisted with several, however. I have the necessary ability to get this done. Just need permission.
theory Posted November 23, 2012 Author Posted November 23, 2012 By Bukkit's license, I'm pretty sure this should be open source. Is there a repository somewhere I can branch and begin work?
creepersahoy@ Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 This mod (plugin, a patch to Minecraft source, henceforth "Mod" or "The Mod"), by the terms of http://www.minecraft.net/terms is sole property and Copyright(2011) of Philip Guin (henceforth "Owner" or "The Owner"). By default it may only be distributed on minecraftforums.net, mcmodcenter.net. It may only be mirrored or reposted with advance written permission of the Owner. Electronic Mail is fine if you wait for a response. URL shorteners or other attempts to make money off The Owner's Mod are strictly forbidden without advance written permission. By similar terms of the official Minecraft terms of use, you are free to do whatever you want with videos and screenshots of the Mod. "Tools" and "plugins" made especially for the Mod should be treated like "tools" and "plugins" are for Minecraft, respectively, abiding by the official Minecraft terms of use. You're free to decompile the code, play with it, and make "tools" or "plugins," so long as you never distribute complete, runnable jars of Minecraft, or entire, working packages of the Mod without advanced written permission of the Owner. I found this on the yogscast page for H/M
theory Posted November 24, 2012 Author Posted November 24, 2012 Well that is unfortunate. Looks like he's more concerned with monetizing it later than he is with having a quality product. I was laying out a mod very similar to this when I came upon H/M. I was hoping that instead of competing with it, I could contribute to it so there would only be a single true RPG mod. If Frizzil is uninterested, however, as it seems to be, then I'll just have to go my own way. Thanks anyway.

theory Posted November 24, 2012 Author Posted November 24, 2012 What would be the best way of going about that?
Xylord Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 What would be the best way of going about that? Sending him a PM to his account on the MCF, because that's probably what he checks the most often. By the way, what mods did you participate into? Just curious.

creepersahoy@ Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 Whatever legal technobabble that is, it is most definitely crap. Go ahead and modify the code all you want, theory. Actually, you can mod the source code as much as you want but you can't redistribute a working copy of the mod.
Xylord Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 Actually, you can mod the source code as much as you want but you can't redistribute a working copy of the mod. I think what he meant is that "mod copyrights" are BS since the mods themselves are on unstable ground. In other words, one can do whatever he wants without fear of legal retaliation. But it's still douchy to modify and release a content without even asking, I would at least try.
IpwnUall Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Yes. Please do that. I've wanted to play hack/mine for ages!
aang2001 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 I'd just like to say that Frizzil is still working on this mod, and frequently posts in his thread of the minecraft forums.
AstroZombie Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 I'd just like to say that Frizzil is still working on this mod, and frequently posts in his thread of the minecraft forums. The official thread on minecraftforum dot net is titled [1.2.3] HACK SLASH MINE (SPELLSCRIPT ALPHA IS AVAILABLE!). The URL contains this as the topic number 502897-123-hack-slash-mine-spellscript-alpha-is-available. He released an update about a week ago. 0.6.4a2 is out but no in technic yet. after a bit more testing, it should be released in technic.
