Alasdair Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Frequently while Tekkiting I run into a problem about which the internet has no answers, and have to do some trailblazing into MINECRAFT SCIENCE. This time though, I decided to write up my methodology and results. I made a turtle farmer and wanted to know the optimum time between harvesting and replanting wheat. Since Tekkit no longer has forestry, maybe these results will be useful to somebody. Here is the paper. Enjoy!
BurningCake Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Sweet mother of Science... *takes of monocle* That was actually really interesting, will you be writing other "research papers"?
Silent Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 harvesting every 60min is close enough for me :P
Alasdair Posted December 4, 2012 Author Posted December 4, 2012 Sweet mother of Science... *takes of monocle* That was actually really interesting, will you be writing other "research papers"? Yes, hopefully!! I am also looking for other submissions. It'd be pretty sweet (and funny) to have a Minecraft Science quarterly journal! (also I got to originpro today, enjoy the improved graphs)
SimpleGuy Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 I very much enjoyed reading this, brushed me up a bit on my ODE knowledge. It should be noted that a methodology for a similar problem has already been developedm, that in a radioactive decay chain. However, the solutions assume the half life of each parent isotope in the chain is different, the difference of the time constants is an important factor, and applied to this problem results in dividing by zero. Thankfully, the natural world has so many shades of grey that I can't think of a case that violates this assumption off the top of my head. Glad to see the methodology if so, though. EDIT: I wonder, will your science be mainly theoretical or experimental? 'Cause let me tell you, error analysis of real-world data is so much fun...
