docdraco Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 (edited) Hello everyone, I have a serious problem with a Hamachi server which a friend set up for Tekkit Legends. In the beginning, before we made substantial progress, the game ran smoothly with little to no ping lag present. This was about a month ago when the server was first set up. Roughly two weeks later I started noticing more ping lag which didn't make the game too unplayable - I was still able to carry out important functions like mining, and putting loot into chests. A few days ago, the ping lag reached the point where the game was completely unplayable. When I opened a chest, or used a crafting table, the action would register a minute later. I tried adjusting some settings in the firewall, specifically to ensure that the firewall is allowing both the Hamachi client and my friend's Tekkit server all to no avail. Before then I tried a simple reboot, my friend restarted his router and computer, and I've even tried updating my Hamachi and still no luck. When I ran the server, my friend started experiencing the same exact problem as I did - atrociously high ping lag. However, it seemed to settle itself about a minute into the session and came back with a vengeance 10 minutes later. I too experienced the same thing while my friend was running the server, but only once and that was two days ago. It appears to be random - the ping would rise to upwards of 140-300ms then rarely would it settle back to reasonable levels, but I found that this only lasted for an hour when it happened to me. As it stands, we can't play on this server anymore, and I hope someone can point out what exactly is causing this. My system specs: CPU: Intel Core i5 6600k @ 4.5Ghz Motherboard: Asus Maximus VIII Hero Graphics Card: MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G 3.5GB OS: Windows 10 64-bit RAM: Mushkin Blackline 16GB Wireless: Netgear G54 802.11 b/g My friend's specs: CPU: Intel Core i7 6700 @ 3.4Ghz Motherboard: Unknown Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB OS: Windows 10 64-bit RAM: Unknown 16GB Wireless: 802.11ac + Bluetooth 4.2 My friend is using a pre-built system which is why I was vague on the motherboard and memory. Moderators AetherPirate Posted November 4, 2016 Moderators Posted November 4, 2016 I would not using Hamachi and go with port fowarding to your server.

Your PC specs have nothing to do with latency lag. Important question here is, what's the max bandwidth (download/upload) on the hosting (server) computer? Majority of people have dynamic IP addresses -> not practical unless you're using dynamic DNS update software (like No-IP for example).. Also, hamachi doesn't add that much latency.. 10-40 ms max. docdraco Posted November 10, 2016 Author Posted November 10, 2016 (edited) My download speed is 9.2 Mbps, and upload is .85 Mbps. Edited November 10, 2016 by docdraco
