How do I fix this?

Okay, So I have been trying since yesterday to download mainly Tekkit, but also the Yogbox, Technic and even Vanilla, but when I start the download it stops at a random number and says "Download Failed". I looked up the "Common Problems and Solutions" and tried to inactivate my virus program during the download, (I use avast!) but that didn't help. Could someone give me tips/the solution of this?

EDIT: I run on a 64 bit windows with a 32 bit Java. It's a Windows 7 Home Premium.

well, first get a 64 bit version of java 7.

install it and try again.

Uninstall the old versions.

Uninstall java completely. all of it.

Reinstall java 7 x64.

use pastebin to show us your logs.

Try setting your antivirus to allow technic as an exception, rather then disabling it.
