NightKev Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 "New Java vulnerability is being exploited in the wild, disabling Java is currently your only option" "Oracle’s Java vulnerability left open since October 2012 ‘fix’, now being used to push ransomware" tl;dr: Oracle fucked up and anyone using Java 7 needs to immediately disable the java plugins for their browsers.
miniboxer Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 already disabled, no viruses. Dodged a bullet there.
Mooseman9 Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Thank God I use firefox, it automatically disabled it since October 30th. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/blocked/p182
GreenWolf13 Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Meh, I never do any web browsing from anything except my iPad, so it doesn't affect me. I also think that the regular version of java on my PC is like 7u7 or something so also not an issue. (I have 2 versions of Java, JDK for development, and JRE for everything else)
NightKev Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 It's pretty much any Java 7 version that is affected, afaik, not just 7u10.
NightKev Posted January 14, 2013 Author Posted January 14, 2013 With 7u11, they've patched it (and apparently changed the default security level so that all java app[lets] are click-to-run).
