changing world seed?

Playing Tekkit 1.1.4

Have had server seed change after about a week, after this time any new chunks will not line up with the old and the boimes on the old chunks will change completely.

Have since restarted on fresh server install with new world. Will edit if problem shows itself again.

Minor nuisance that might or might not be Tekkit:

IC2 items that run out of power have a tendency to disappear when hit

Build Craft pumps when used to harvest oil deposits in the water will cause the water source blocks to start disappearing in radius of aprox 60 blocks

Changing a seed mid-map with have that behavior with the chunks lining up and biomes changing, since that is exactly what changing a seed is expected to do.

Your second complaint is an IC2 thing, since the items work off damage values you can damage an item and have it 'break' aka disappear. Wearing a batpack, its empty, you get hit, that last 'damage' to the pack breaks it.

Your last is a problem with Buildcraft, it starts pumping water then will pull from as far as it can. This is default Buildcraft behavior, this is why the Water Strainer that is a part of Power Crystal's mods was made.

that's the thing, we didn't change the seed, the config file was left alone. we started with a random seed, and the server decided to change that random seed about a week later. (again the config file was still the default one).

oh and thank you for the clarification on the IC2 and BC stuff.

sounds like an old bukkit/vanilla bug i remember reading about a long while back, the fix is to make sure that the seed is set in server.properties on the level-seed line, if you start with a random seed F3 and write that number down, stop the server, write it into the properties file and it shouldn't deviate from that ever.

You can also see the seed in the server startup text, or at least you can with vanilla Bukkit.
