Server crash when using a water strainer

Question

Posted

Launcher/pack Version: Tekkit 2.1.1 Server

Operating System: Windows 7 64 bit

Version of Java: JRE 7, 64 bit

Description of Problem: When my friend set up a water strainer to separate the oil from the ocean water, the oil didn't go into the strainer, and shortly after, my server crashed, giving him a java error. The first message below showed up several times, exactly the same everytime. The second message showed up once the server was completely crashed. When I logged on later, I went into creative and flew over to the water strainer, but once the chunk loaded, I got the same java error with the same error messages. My friend tried logging on again to destroy it, and was successful. The first error message showed up several times again as before, but the second did not, because he prevented the problem.

Is there a fix for this problem? We've got 3 oil deposits in the ocean very very close together, so it would be a lot easier to use this method of collection.

Error Messages: First message: at powercrystals.powerconverters.TileEntityWaterStrainer.fill<TileEntityWaterStrainer.java:39>

Second message: Read Timed Out

If you dont use any tools that are capable of rollbacking playerevents (assuming u did the block-place fix), this is hard to fix. You will need to fix it using MCedit

What do you mean by "rollbacking playerevents"? We were able to fix it by physically breaking it with a fist, although I'm not sure why it didn't crash the server the third load-up of it. What I want to know, because I think you have misunderstood my question, is how to fix the water strainer problem so that we can use it in the future.

Ah, i see. Did you friend log in just beside it, and destoyed it straight away? Or did he use some time before he did it?

He was right beside it when it first caused the crash, so he was fortunately right beside it when he logged back in, and was able to break it.

We still haven't gotten a fix for this problem. Has this problem occurred for anyone else, and if so, how was it corrected? A lot of energy that we need will be collected from ocean oil deposits, and a water strainer will aid this greatly.

QueenTashie, I too have run into bugs with the water strainer. After 4 restarts with no success we stopped the server, and did an MCEdit to remove the block. We then reuploaded the map, and started back up. Problem was gone. Water Strainers are now persona non-grata on my server.

I didn't have a problem getting rid of it, but what do you mean by "persona non-grata"?
