How do I update my mods?

I have 5 mods that need updating.

Atomic Science

Basic Components

Electric Expansion

ICBM

Assembly Line

And Railcraft also says there is an update.

Do I just download the latest version of the .Jar for these mods and drop them into the mods folder, and delete the old one?

The mod themselves report there are updates for them, but the server might not support them.

You can easily extract the latest mods from the server file (using Winrar, 7-zip and such) - in the mod folder (and remove the old ones). As long as you don't change options in TechnicLauncher it should not try to update the mods itself.

I don't play on a server, I play single player. If I play multiplayer it is usually with my friends over LAN.

Edit: I Deleted the old version and copied the new versions to my Mods folder and I get the following error...

"Forge Mod Loader has found a problem with your minecraft installation. The mods and versions listed below could not be found. Forge: [6.6.0.516,)"

I feel for you. These modpacks can be a pain in that regard. So here's a point of view to ponder. I'm taking a logical look here so don't take this for fact but this is my best guess. The launcher self-manages what mods and mod versions should be initialized when you select "Voltz" in your modpack selection. It looks to the settings you designate in the options where you pick which version you want to load (1.0.11, 1.0.13, etc.). If you manually update your mods, you 'may' need to load it in as a custom modpack so it doesn't attempt to bump your current versions with the versions stored in the database for the version of voltz you have selected.

Thanks for the suggestion! :) I'll see if I can do that, but I have to admit there's going to be a learning curve for me. I just started using the launcher.
