Tman015 Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Hello! I just signed up and I have a big question about the technic platform. My brother recently updated his minecraft to 1.5, and every since then, he was unable to play on voltz. It just wouldn't update. everything else worked fine. I thought it was nothing, so I told him to re-download the launcher so the old one would be replaced. but the new launcher was different than the old one, and he still couldn't play on voltz. It would recognize his login. so I looked up some solutions to this problem on the forums here and tried everything, but nothing worked. one of them said that deleting the .techniclauncher file would work, so I did that. but it didn't work either, and now all of the modpacks say Update Failed. can someone please tell me how to fix this on the 1.1.2.0 launcher or tell me where I can find a download of it so me and my brother can play on my voltz server again. Thanks. -Tman015
Cheap Shot Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 First off, you didn't read our forums rules (don't sign your posts), or any of the stickies at the top of this section. Second off, what? Ok. The updating to 1.5 issue makes no sense. Now that you have the new launcher, the directory it installs to is .technic not .techniclauncher, so deleting the .techniclauncher folder would do nothing.
Melfice Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 It would recognize his login. I'm assuming you meant to type "It wouldn't recognize his login." Did he use the right password? Let him try again. Also, I have no idea if Voltz has been update for 1.5 yet. Regardless, it wouldn't matter one thing, since if Voltz isn't updated for 1.5 then the version of Minecraft used to run Voltz won't be 1.5. The launcher simply won't allow it. I'm guessing your brother used the wrong login information.
Tman015 Posted March 16, 2013 Author Posted March 16, 2013 ok first, Cheap Shot, sorry about that. I'm just getting really tired of these minecraft problems and I wanted to know if there was a solution to all of this. second, Melfice, yes he did use the right information, even I tried logging in on his laptop and it did the same thing. third, it wasn't the new launcher giving me problems, it's the old one. so the directory is .techniclauncher. trust me because I still have the old launcher. fourth, it has never done this before until after he updated his minecraft. it might just be a coincident though. and fifth, the new launcher will not display any of the modpacks. it just says add new modpack and there is nothing in any of the files for both .technic and .techniclauncher. all the files are empty. is there away for him to reset the technic launcher or away for him to reload the files? I have tried everything I can and I'm afraid that I'm going to mess everything up.
Cheap Shot Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Right click the new launcher and run as admin. Don't use the old launcher. It is not supported anymore and probably doesn't work with Platform.
Tman015 Posted March 18, 2013 Author Posted March 18, 2013 Sorry for wasting your time on this guys, but I fixed the problem. Thanks for trying to help me and I'm sorry for wasting your time again.

Tman015 Posted April 5, 2013 Author Posted April 5, 2013 sorry for the delay in posting, I was in Hawaii so I wasn't able to check the site. Ok, Cheap Shot, what I did was I copied my files to his laptop and that seemed to work. But sadly, now I have the problem. And might I say that I do think there is a correlation between updating minecraft to 1.5.1 and the update failed errors following this act shortly after. As of now, I updated my minecraft to 1.5.1 yesterday but I copied the entire 1.4.7 .minecraft folder. Today, I started crashing very often, at first I thought it was because of an overload from the mods I had on my voltz. I cleared my cache for voltz and that's when I started to get the update failed errors. I restored my minecraft back to 1.4.7, but I still got the same error. Now I'm not quite sure if there is something that I am suppose to do when posting error logs and such, but here is what the launcher log said in the occurrence of the update failed. Forgive me if it looks messy, I will try to clean it up as much as possible. First, here it is when I didn't clear the cache: [19:05:26] [sEVERE] Downloading 'http://206.217.207.1/Technic/CHECKSUM.md5' [19:05:26] [sEVERE] Downloaded '\launcher\CHECKSUM.md5' [19:05:27] [sEVERE] [MD5 Mismatch] File '\launcher\modlibrary.yml' has md5 of 'e61a923ad4a7d9c24484a97cfcbfa5fb' instead of '186ae070b11b1b728641906828bf917b' [19:05:27] [sEVERE] [info] Downloading 'modlibrary.yml' from 'http://206.217.207.1/Technic/modlibrary.yml'. I really prefer the 1.1.2.0 platform version due to familiarity to it. And Ps. My minecraft is as of right now, 1.4.7 official.
planetguy Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 It looks like the launcher isn't set up to deal with the Minecraft version currently available from Mojang's servers. One of the Technic people would need to set up binary patches from 1.5.1 to 1.4.7.
Tman015 Posted April 5, 2013 Author Posted April 5, 2013 Hmm. Might be. But, if that's the case, then why was it working before. Because this all happened after I cleared the cache.
Forum Administrators sct Posted April 6, 2013 Forum Administrators Posted April 6, 2013 Sorry the old launcher is no longer supported.
Tman015 Posted April 6, 2013 Author Posted April 6, 2013 Ah. Now I see. Thanks guys. I guess it's time to get use to the new launcher then.
Cheap Shot Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Ah. Now I see. Thanks guys. I guess it's time to get use to the new launcher then. It's very very nice and runs a lot better. Only work you'll have to do is to copy and paste your saves over to the new directory (.technic by default, but you can change it now) if you don't want to start fresh.
Tman015 Posted April 7, 2013 Author Posted April 7, 2013 Sounds easy enough. If I have any problems with the new launcher I will post about it. Again thanks for the help.
