wildjack3 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Spec: 2012 Macbook Pro OS: 10.8.3 Java: 7 So I'm running the version of the launcher for Mac supplied in the most popular launcher thread, the last solution posted, where I downloaded a zipped version of the launcher, have to keep it in my applications, and terminal launches every time I play tekkit. Just telling you that so you all know where I'm at. The problem I'm having is when I play Big Dig, after about 5 minutes of playing, things go 'choppy.' What I mean is the screen will just freeze. Sometimes for half a second, other times for up to 5, even 10 seconds. Eventually, the screen will freeze permanently, or i'll get the 'dirt screen' and have the message 'shutting down internal server,' and more times than not when I have this message I have to force quit. Any one know how to solve this problem? Quote
CanVox Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 This sounds like you're not allocating enough memory to Big Dig- you can change the memory allocation from the cogwheel in the top right hand corner of the launcher. Be sure to check the box for increased permgen size. Quote
wildjack3 Posted April 17, 2013 Author Posted April 17, 2013 I have 8 gb of memory, and I have 3 allocated to the technic launcher Quote
CanVox Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Not much else can be done without a forge log, then. Quote
CanVox Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 No reason to triple post. :-O You can find it in your .technic\bigdig folder. It's called ForgeModLoader-client-0.log. Run the game until it starts flipping out then close it and put the log up on pastebin. Quote
wildjack3 Posted April 17, 2013 Author Posted April 17, 2013 Haha, sorry. Didn't mean to. On my end it was saying/showing that my first two didn't go through. Quote
CanVox Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 From your log: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space I told you to check the box to increase permgen size, and I'm very frustrated to have gone through this with you only to discover that you did not do as instructed. Quote
wildjack3 Posted April 17, 2013 Author Posted April 17, 2013 maybe the link to my pastebin will be of more help: http://pastebin.com/mc5cRwYU Quote
wildjack3 Posted April 17, 2013 Author Posted April 17, 2013 Sorry :/ I'll give that a try. I really appreciate you helping me out Quote
wildjack3 Posted April 17, 2013 Author Posted April 17, 2013 This worked like a charm. No more problems. Thanks a lot CanVox Quote
HazzaThewearPig Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 i have the same problem and i have 8 GB of ram but can only use six because of my mac model (mid 2009) i have allocated 5 GB to the big dig also instead of run out of memory it says overburdened used (number) have (number) left a few times and then it goes shutting down.... on big dig dirt shutting down internal server its pissing me off now Quote
Jahones Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 What's the path to change the permgen size? Been looking now for a while and can't seem to find it... Nevermind, found out how to increase it Quote

Cut that down to 1.5GB-2GB and make sure your java is up-to-date. Goddamn, just realized this was a necro post. Quote
