Log-on to server white screen of DEATH.

Question

Posted

OS: Windows 7

Tekkit version: 2.1.0

Java: version 7

Server: 2.1.1

Problem: Minecraft client crashes after a very brief delay after logging on to the server. Server recognizes the player who's logging on and reacts as it normally would. The player side sees the environment for about a second before being cut off by a dirt filled screen. This then turns into a white screen, after which Minecraft becomes unresponsive, and doesn't give an error report. The server doesn't seem to notice this, and simply registers that the connection timed out.

I haven't found any issue like this one yet, so I decided that it'd probably be best to post to. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Edit: O. The problem is probably with my Tekkit Version. Ran it on the old server and it worked fine. But it is odd that I wasn't disconnected due to having incorrect mods...

Another edit: the problem is still there. NOW WHAT??

Did you ever solve this.. I have been unable to get into Tekkit for almost 2 days now due to this bug with Tekkit

i'm starting to see that posting bug reports here is useless. All we will get is the common troll to tell us we posted wrong, or to just post a comment that has nothing to do with the OP.

with that attitude, yeah that's what you're going to get. however, you actually HAVE followed the bug report format so it makes trying to help a little easier.

since redstoner was with it enough to provide a log, we've got something to go on. does this happen to everyone on the server? if not, I am thinking it is an item overload issue. BC pipes can break sometimes due to chunk unloading (or just being broken by stuff) and spill tons of items all over the ground. item spills like this can cause serious problems if you log in on top of them or wander too close to them.

What you're dealing with is a java problem that not many people can diagnose. The fact that you're maybe the second person to post an actual bug report on this is also of note.

As for your problem, Care to tell me what you've tried to do to solve it, before i launch into the list of general fixes?

I am having the exact same problem as you. I log onto the server i get sent to a dirt screen after a few seconds. So far ive deleted my java and re installed and ive deleted all minecraft related data off my computer. I re download it and i still get the dirt screen.

you two having what is probably not the same problem, post some info instead of just saying "me too". give us logs, system specs, etc. if you want anything to get done.

War87, your log is different to the others. You have an Outofbounds exception which, correct me if i'm wrong as i'm no programmer, is an issue with having a block id out or normal range. Like i said i'm no modder or programmer so it would have to get verified by someone who knows of java but i remember when i put my block id in wrong and i'm sure i had an outofbounds exception. Your issue looks easier to fix than the issue redstone is having. i'm having a similar issue with this as a log...

this seems to follow the same pattern as the other logs

i have nearly the same problem...

os: win 7 64 bit

java 7

tekkit: 2.1.1

server: 2.1.1

i tried to reinstall tekkit. it first happened when i was helping to build the server spawn.

i only get this on 1 single server. it logges in, but instead of showing the world it shows an nice white screen.

it goes away in a minute, there is an error report flashing but its too fast to copy. where can i find it in a file?

edit: i found the log folder....

Try dev build and 1GB ram.Did it for friend of mine.

1 gb ram is standard for me and you need dev builds to join new servers...

Using latest Dev Build fixes this issue for me and members on my server. Hope it works well for you.

Tried that a while ago, I guess I will have to try that again when I get back home

I've reverted back to using the 2.0.0 version of tekkit with the old server version and the bug isn't present.

it seems like Amazon S3 storage services aren't working, and when I test with my browser, they're not loading.

when I repoint the DNS name to one of my own servers, the error changes significantly...

I've reverted back to using the 2.0.0 version of tekkit with the old server version and the bug isn't present.

My server is having the same problem, I was hoping I could revert to the older version, anyone know where i can get the 2.0 server files?

This is frustrating, I haven't been able to use my own server in two weeks, used dev build, allocated ram, re installed everything. The devs need to fix this or tekkit is useless to me. Sorry I love tekkit but, I cannot use it.

*FIX FOR WHITE SCREEN O DEATH!!!*

Easy fix, just delete your player.dat file in /world/players/ or ask the server owner to delete. It basically mean's something in your inventory corrupted and you need to clear your inventory. Note by doing this you WILL loose all your items & location. But this fix has worked for me many time's.
