Rifts do not work

I've updated both my server and launcher fully, and everything works fine except the rifts; no matter what one i enter or place a dim. door on, the worls i enter is just pitch black, like an empty void. i cannot place torches, however i found out that i can do a 180 turn, and walk back through the door out (which i cannot see either).

Has anyone else had this problem? and can anyone fix it?

That is what is supposed to happen. Try placing blocks anywhere.
