AwCrudNoSword Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 OK. Since I learned about making a custom modpack, I've had a dream server idea. It would be a total war server, with factions, Flan's World War 2, and the Zeppelin mod. One problem: I'm too chicken. What scares me the most is the idea of using the Minecraft.jar. I don't think the whole renaming it to "Modpack.jar" cuts it. I quote William Shakespeare, "What's in a name?". The "One Big Rule" says you can't redistribute ANYTHING Mojang has made. Mods? Yes. Minecraft? No. What I'm getting at is asking if there is a way to make my modpack download the minecraft.jar from Minecraft.net and not do anyhting illegal. Help...?
Niavmai Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Modpack.jar is not a renamed minecraft.jar. Modpack.jar injects info into minecraft.jar every time you run the pack. You are downloading minecraft.jar directly from Mojang servers.
miniboxer Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Ok... I... guess? Whatever you put in the modpack.jar is injected into the minecraft.jar
Teraku Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Minecraft.jar is directly downloaded from Mojang's official repository. It's 100% legal. Modpack.jar contains all the mods, so minecraft.jar isn't actually being redistributed.
