e7tophat Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Does Tekkit have any mods which re-configure how the terrain generates? I ask, because I have spent a couple hours last night trying to generate a world to begin, but every single world consists of: 1) Spawning on an island 1.a) Consisting of Sand 1. Consisting of Jungle 1.c) Consisting of Swamp 2) Has sewage EVERYWHERE 3) Has oil EVERYWHERE I am finding this is happening in every world, and I figure there has to be some configuration which is out of whack, because it's getting to a point where my mini-map view is constantly showing me atleast 2 sewage and 2 oil pools.
theprolo Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Sewage and Sludge (I'm assuming it's sludge, not oil, because of the density. They look similar, but sludge is transparent) are pretty common in world gen. Your first thing is most likely a fluke - put in a random seed if you want.

I actually just made a world and it's gorgeous and not a freaking swamp island desert. Am I safe to assume that due to the amount of it, I am going to need it all?
theprolo Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Neither are particularly useful, it just makes interesting worldgen. Careful though - they give debuffs if you swim in them.
e7tophat Posted June 2, 2013 Author Posted June 2, 2013 Yeah, I noticed when I fell into a pool and filled it up with a bucket. Saw it was sewage and wondered what the hell it was for.
theprolo Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Sewage can be used to make Fertilizer in a Composter, which is used to speed up plant growth with Minefactory Reloaded machines. Sludge is used in a Sludge Boiler to create random stuff - not particularly useful stuff most of the time, but interesting anyway. Not just any random stuff by the way, just a couple of things like dirt, sand and soulsand.
TokiWartooth Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Also currently neither work with buildcraft pumps so you have to move them with buckets from the natural deposits, heard a fix is in the works for this but it does make it annoying to clear the stuff as of now.
