GB limit is 1.5 how to increase

most modpacks I want need atleat 2GBs but the most my options will let me go is 1.5GB am I just stupid and its the computer or is there something I can do (windows 8)

Well if the launcher will only let you go to 1.5GB, I'd assume you only have 1.5GB of RAM.

Buy more RAM.

Also, 32-bit systems can only allocate up to 1.5 GB, IIRC. So either you have 32-bit windows (not sure if Windows 8 can be 32-bit) or you installed 32-bit java.
