Help I've a sound problem!!!

Please help me I can't hear any minecraft vanilla sounds ingame i can only hear the mods but can't hear myself sprint or destroy blocks and all that... help me... i use the latest launcher, java and i use windows 7

1. look if the computer sounds are ON?

2. check if the soundboxes are correctly connected to the computer, working properly and ON?

3. look at the minecraft menu options of sounds are ON

Also, sometimes the sound just stops, atleast at me it happens, but then it runs fine again after restarting the game.

I had a lot of sound issues with Tekkit, and updating LWJGL fixed them. My issues were different than yours, but you may want to try it.
