You can use Tekkit and Magic Launcher separately. Tekkit stores its own copy of minecraft.

Then you didn't install it right, .jar mods go into the modpack.jar of the modpack.

There is your problem, techinc has its own folder for its minecraft folders..

Here's a quick guide, hopefully u use windows.

Open Run (Windows Key+R)

Type %appdata%

Open up the folder .technic

Find your corrosponding mod (Ex. tekkitmain)

Open bin/modpack.jar

And install optifine there.
