Add new pack?

So me and my cousin what to start a lets play for hexxit but when he downloads the TechnicLauncher it just says add new pack. He runs on windows 8 and im fine running on windows 7. I think it maybe that the technic launcher doesnt support windows 8 yet. Uhh i told him to deleted and reinstall but it just doesnt work cuz the hexxit title doesnt show so its not installing the files. Thank you if u helped

Have your cousin disable his firewall and antivirus, it's blocking the Technic Launcher.

Better yet, add exceptions for java.exe, javaw.exe and TechnicLauncher.exe.
