Hexxit Quits Itself after Installation

Mendicant343

Question

Title: Hexxit Quits Itself after Installation

Version: 1_0_4

OS: Mac OSX 10.8.4

Java Version: Java SE 6 for Mac (default), Java SE 7

Description of Problem:

After downloading Hexxit with no (visible) problem, the client opens, forge sets up its files, and the client auto-quits before even reaching the Mojang page. As seen in the error log, FML lists no issues with the start-up. Everything is displayed with the tag [Fine], [Finest], or [info]. The only warnings have to do with NEI and Chicken Chunks, which are definitely not the problem.

Error Messages:

There were no error messages, which was the strange part. The client just quits.

Error Log:

The resources folder streams in at runtime, the fact that it's missing isn't important.

You are running java 7 on a mac with the default LWJGL, which is a nono. You need to downgrade to java 6, or manually upgrade your hexxit install's LWJGL to I believe 2.9.

How exactly do I update LWJGL? I did the logical thing, which was to download 2.9 from here and then replace all the .jar files and native files that were in the bin folder (Here's a list: lwjgl.jar, lwkgl_util.jar, jinput.jar, libjinput-osx.jnilib, liblwjgl.jnilib, openal.dylib). When I open Hexxit, FML produces a crash log, which I pasted below:

The crash log mentions a missing file: liblwjgl64.dylib. I looked for this within the folders of LWJGL 2.9, but couldn't find it.

As a side note, Hexxit runs fine when I install FML onto regular 1.5.2 minecraft and move over the mods, coremods, config, and Chocolate folders.

Probably- does hexxit work without optifine?

Yes, it works fine. Any clue to fix the LWJGL problem? I still want to have Hexxit working on the Technic launcher so I can play 1.6.2 on regular minecraft.

Also, I tried installing optifine onto modpack.jar with no difference in the FML log and the launcher.

Play without optifine.

...Ok. Sure, but the FPS will kill me. Just to make sure you understand, I only tried installing Optifine into modpack.jar to see if that would allow Hexxit to launch. I'm currently only using Optifine on Hexxit on regular minecraft, not the Technic Launcher. (The Hexxit I'm debugging on Technic doesn't have Optifine installed.)

cuz, I did like u and replaced them all, but when I launch tekkit, It doesn't work and when I look at the forgemodloader client, its says I still hav LWJGL 2.4.2

First of all, what OS are you running? What java version? You might not need to update your LWJGL to 2.9 manually like me (remember I was unsuccessful at fixing Hexxit). Also, your trying to run the new Tekkit right (the one without industrial craft 2)?

Also, here's the instructions you asked for (I made them simple stupid in case a 10 year old finds this topic and reads this):

[stuff you probably already know but I included this just in case]

  1. Download LWJGL from here (scroll down to the download link).
  2. Open the bin folder of the tekkit folder within .technic (or just technic if your using a mac).

[more important instructions]

  1. After you opened the bin folder, open lwjgl-2.9.0.zip, extract all its contents, and open the the folder called jar (the location is different depending on how you extracted it).
  2. Now copy these files and only these files from the jar folder into the aforementioned bin folder: lwjgl_util.jar, lwjgl.jar, jinput.jar.
  3. Now exit the jar folder and open the native folder (the called "native" from the .zip) and within it, there's folders named after operating systems. Choose the folder corresponding to whatever OS you use and copy all the files within.
  4. Paste these files in the folder named "natives" in bin and test your Tekkit.

You can find similar instructions online if you need more clarification. Let me know if these instructions worked for you.

When I run Hexxit with and without Optifine (using the 1.5.2 minecraft launcher), everything works fine. When I run Hexxit with and without Optifine in the Technic Launcher, there is no difference. The game just quits itself in the manner I described before.

I play on Macbook air, got the newest java 7, Yeah, the newest tekkit too. One question, did u remove the old files and then put in the new ones, or did you just ad the new ones when u where trying to update your lwjgl?

Alright guys so umh...I don't know if this is progress or what but when I launch tekkit, the usual things happens, fml starts and then it disappears and only leaves the tekkit window blank, but then, when you think its about to crash, it turns black, so when I started writing this post, I left it there, and now I see it worked... but its upside down... WTF :D

Alright, so all I want know, is to either, downgrade java or upgrade LWJGL. Downgrading Java seems to bee the easiest way to do it.

So when I got to Java.com and do the test to see what version I got, it says 1.6.0_51. But I've read somewhere that if u go on terminal and type in "java -version" It says what version you got on your computer. When I did that, it said that I got

"java version "1.7.0_25"

Java SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_25-b15)

Java HotSpot 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.25-b01, mixed mode)"

I've tried to remove javaappletplugin.plugin and type in comands that I got from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5559?viewlocale

I've also put in some commands from other websites, BUT in the end, when I type in "Java -version" It says Java 7...Does anyone have a solution to truly remove java 7 and have java 6?

And does anyone know how to properly upgrade LWJGL?

I don't think you completely uninstalled Java 7.

Yeah, updating LWJGL can cause problems like that... In the past, it completely screwed up my Minecraft GUI. Give me a FML log of your original crash (on LWJGL 2.4.2). Maybe I can find another solution for you.

You don't need to remove Java 7, you just need to put Java 6 as the default. Open system preferences and click on the java preferences button on the bottom row. In the tab called "Java," click "view." Then just drag Java 6 above Java 7. This should work.

If that doesn't work, you can just uninstall Java 7. Follow the instructions at this link.

You can also use a quick workaround (if you are sure you have Java 6). Open terminal and enter:

sudo ln -s /System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk/Contents/Commands/java /usr/local/bin/java6

Now, everytime you want to run the Technic Launcher, open terminal and enter:

java6 -jar

and then drag Technic-launcher.jar into the terminal window.

The orignal log that I posted is without Optifine...

Also, the problem here has nothing to do with Optifine. I just checked and none of the modpacks launcher properly when I use the Technic Launcher...

Hey I was having the same trouble and then I did the above and at first the usually white screen was now a crazy jumble of my entire desktop, but then it went black and then minecraft loaded and now it works. Just thought I'd say that your instructions worked for me. So thanks.

Hm...the crazy jumble is exactly what I get, except Minecraft never loads. Lemme try and give it like 20 minutes.

EDIT: (The following is an image meme; choose to click it at your discretion) Huzzah! With the Hexxit 1.0.5 update, updating LWJGL no longer causes me to crash!

Try updating Hexxit to 1.0.5 and then updating LWJGL. It worked for me. Creds for this discovery go to DMCmachine.

Also, Optifine + Hexxit to 1.0.5 + LWJGL 2.9.0 causes a crash.
