Posted

I have read the *READ ME FIRST GODDAMMIT* list and tried everything but technic will still not work on my computer. I have updated to the right bit (64-bit) java with the link on the website, I have turned of my firewall for 15 minutes at one point and tried to install technic, I have tried downloading the .jar and the .exe (I have a Windows computer) and I have when to my .techniclauncher in my %appdata%. Also for some reason in the .techniclaunher it says I have the techniclauncher.jar but it is as a WinRAR archive.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

tried everything

Even wearing a birds nest on your head and challenging strangers to duels?

Also, How did you read the "Read Me First" but not the "Required Reading"?

Did you think that they were the same post twice, just for funsies?

Well, to be fair, there isn't a required reading section in the stickies here. That is in the technic bugs forum. Still, he really should read all the stickies just to be safe.

What Jay? is referencing is that there is a way to post bugs here. It helps us help you by giving us the information that you... didn't post. Things like OS, what the program is doing, and occasionally a log.

Be that as it may, have you tried right clicking on the .jar and running it with java? It will work wonders I bet.

oops, you're right. I spend so much time flitting between boards, i tend to assume that if i'm irritated, im on the bug board.

OP Still read the "read me first goddamnit" but not the "before you post a problem".

And Thats why i tend to figure problems i encounter on Technic myself than on the forums, too many people who count you as a fool who will say "does not read information" in the sections provided. Not every problem has a solution to it in these forums, even if i am trying to be nice i get a sarcastic message saying "Is your computer turned on?"..

Dont mean to be completely rude, but to be bold it is a bit. I dont come on the forums to see people get told to read a section that they have probably already read and couldn't find helpful.

I understand your point of view, and i think it would be functional if we had a much smaller community. I remember quite a while ago, when technic was hosted on a wordpress/tumble/other weird blogging tool.

I spent so much time trying to help people diagnose their problems, but the lack of any way to enforce posting standards made it completely impossible.

Now that we have these forums, and the community is growing so quickly, we need to have a very strict policy when it comes to posting standards, and those policies need to be held up. If they aren't we'll end up like MCforums, with one person endlessly bumping his "it doesnt work" topic until someone is willing to spend an hour trying to convince him o update java, or some other simple fix.

TL;DR: There are reasons why the forums are run this way. We try to be fair, but a certain level of harshness is required.

It might be a good idea to copy that wholesale here though. Save all of us a bit of work.

That's a good idea. I'm not sure why it hasn't been done before.
