YogSothoth Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 New to the forums and technic, and I'm having issues running any of the modpacks. They'll run fine, up to a certain point, and then it's like 1 frame every minute. I suspect it might be my RAM, but the launcher will only let me allocate up to 1GB of RAM for some reason, even though I've heard it's supposed to allow you to allocate up to 8 or 16GB. Any suggestions? Perhaps RAM isn't the issue? Quote
Flextt Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 You should try installing OptiFine (maybe suffering from Lagspike of Death, if that is still a thing) or avoid putting too many machinery in a single area of chunks. Quote
YogSothoth Posted October 14, 2013 Author Posted October 14, 2013 What's the Lagspike of Death? Also, I've noticed it starts to happen when the map has to load, and if I can manage to save and quit to the title screen, when I try to play again it crashes. I've got a log of the error saved, should I post it here? Quote
Flextt Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Does Minecraft vanilla run on your spec? Quote
YogSothoth Posted October 14, 2013 Author Posted October 14, 2013 Yeah, vanilla runs just fine. Quote
TheBytemaster Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 I suspect it might be my RAM, but the launcher will only let me allocate up to 1GB of RAM for some reason 32-bit java will do this. If your processor/OS is only 32-bit, nothing much you can do, but if you have a 64 bit OS then you should install 64-bit java. How much ram does your system have? Also, I've noticed it starts to happen when the map has to load. In this case, You might want to Pre-generate the map. Always post crash logs, preferably using the "code" tags. Quote
freakachu Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 it does sound like a 32 bit vs 64 bit issue. I've seen similar issues when the game is launched using 32 bit java on a 64 bit machine. make sure you're using the right one. Quote
Lothos Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 we need more information on your computer in order to provide adequate support. And NO, going straight to optifine is the worst first choice for solving any lag problem. Quote
