Try putting the rednet cable under the doors. I had this same problem. You can use covers to cover the rednet cable.

I've discovered that the omni-wrench tool on the power tool is not the same as an actual omni-wrench. There are some jobs you need one or the other. I think the rednet cables where one where the tool doesn't work on them.
