No Modpacks will launch

Launcher Version: 3.1.2

Operating System: Win8 64-bit

Java Version: 7 update 45

Antivirus Program: Comodo/Malwarebytes

Description of Problem:

Try to launch any modpacks, will launch on the initial download, but won't launch after closing and re-opening. Upon selecting my modpack and clicking 'play', it extracts a few files, (META.INF/MANIFEST.INF, something long to do with computercraft, and something long to do with matmos, options.txt, version.json) but does nothing afterward.

Haha, it's been annoying for me, and I was getting worried when I scrolled through the forums and saw no one else with the issue.

For anyone who might know how to fix it, here's a more clean version of the log (just starting the launcher, trying to play once, closing)

I haven't used the launcher since I had a Win7 PC, if I remember correctly, so it's not like I've done anything to cause it. (Or I hope, at least)

You running Win8 too?

By the way, would downgrading possibly be a fix?

I suspect a fix will lie somewhere within admin permissions for the launcher, java as well as UAC

Oh man, that was easy, and I feel like I retard now. Just run the launcher as Administrator and voila. Or, if you're too lazy to right-click and do that every time, right-click, properties, compatibility, tick "Run as Administrator".

didn't work, seems to be an irrelevant fix...my problem isnt that its not downloading, my problem is that it just wont launch, with this error coming up in the launchers console:

edit1:interesting part is, while its saying filenotfound, the file is actually there (i checked), and why its saying access denied is beyond me its running as Administrator!!!!!!!!!

and yes this IS an ADMINISTRATOR account!!

done, still having trouble (the launcher is always set to run as admin)

also tried compatability mode for windows XP

same errors

before the launcher update there weren't any issues, that's the odd bit, and there hasn't been changes to my system

(At a loss, even tried updating video drivers (already up to date!!))

and i really dont think a reformat is gonna fix anything (i only just formatted this thing a month back)

guess ill just have to play vanilla and mod it myself...

I am running on Win7 64bit.

I am also having this issue and it started with the update prior to dec 9th of technic launcher. I have some further insight possibly. The launcher runs perfect the First time and as long as I keep the launcher up it will continue to work great the first time (I can play any mod). Once I close the launcher, the next time I press "Play", I get the above error Every time. I have tried the steps Creeper has tried as well.

If I destroy the .technic directory and let everything download again I can play again, but I lose all my personal games/settings obviously. I made sure the java.exe and javaw.exe (which is what runs when you click technic launcher) are running as administrator, still have the issue.

Once you get this error it happens on any mod you have downloaded

found a fix

took my pc to my friends place, after 2 hours of troubleshooting, we found that the antivirus was locking the dll files in bin/natives, so to fix that we disabled the antivirus from starting at sstartup, now it works fine

for those who refuse to turn off your antivirus there is a workaround, in the folder of whatever game your playing you need to go into bin/natives, and delete all of the dll files, then relaunch your launcher and you can play without deleting the entire folder

i found a different solution. in my case one of the files called: fml_libs15 . was corrupted so all that i did was simply delete it. and after that my launcher started working again.

to get to the file...

1. lick on any mod-packs "settings" icon

2. go back to the folder .techinc

3. open the folder called cache

4. delete the folder named fml_libs15

after that, the launcher should download the folder again and work this time.

i did this because it was the only zipped folder i could find and the launcher said it cant open a zipped folder.

so it was pure common logic.
