TechnicLauncher hangs on splash image

Question

Posted

Launcher/pack Version: 0.5.4.9

Operating System: Windows Seven 64 bit

Version of Java: 7u3 (x64)

Description of Problem: When starting up the Technic Launcher from either the exe or the jar it hangs on the splash image that says "Technic Launcher." It doesn't show the launcher in windows task manager, so I have to shut down java from the processes tab to get rid of it.

Error Messages: N/A (Hangs on the launcher splash image.)

Thanks for any help in advance!

I've got the same problem, it can't connect to a website, when i delete the files in the .techniclauncher it will hang too. But when I recover them, it will launch the launcher but it says: whoops, our thumblr feed is down. and play offline where the login field is...

I've tried deleting the files in the .techniclauncher too... Unlike you though, I can't even get to the main part of the launcher with the tumblr feed on it.

might be java! says sir obvious.. java 6 runs better

also do a clean reinstall, backup saves, delete technicpack inside .technic ( %appdata% )

open the launcher, click clear cache and launch it over

( rebooting and doing a moondance may help aswell !!! but not prayer, nope.. im sorry )

While this is true it is not a good solution. I also can't run technic launcher unless I use Java 6; but you can't operate a tekkit server without Java 7 due to IC2 (advanced machines i think). I haven't seen anyone provide any suggestions on helping the many I've seen who can't run the technic launcher with Java 7.

I've allowed the java.exe, minecraft.exe, and technic launcher.exe to my firewall exceptions; i've done clean installs of each program; I've tried using the .jar instead of the .exe. Still, evertime I try and use the minecraft or technic launcher with Java 7 it behaves as if I don't have an internet connection. Any other suggestions as to what might be going on?

Edit: I have tried running a tekkit server using java 7 while running my launcher using java 6 but I'm not able to connect to the server due to a java socket error. I assume this is because i'm using 2 different versions of java. If someone has a workaround to this that would be appreciated also.

Ok, so I uninstalled both the 32 bit and the 64 bit versions of java 6 from my machine. Reinstalled the 32 bit version, did a moondance as the post above suggested, and it finally worked. So uh... yeah, thanks for the help.
