monk14580 Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Thought I found a topic on this in the past but can't find it again. I'm trying to find an ocelot for Advanced Genetics purposes but can't find a jungle biome anywhere in my world. I'm pretty sure I've seen that ocelots spawn in other biomes but can't find that information again for reference. What biomes are ocelot spawn friendly?
StratusNightstar Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Any type of jungle biome. Example I think I found mine in a rainforest biome.
Kalbintion Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Jungle based biomes, per above comment, and per vanilla Minecraft spawn rules. Keep in mind though that they wont spawn if the mob cap (see vanilla minecraft wiki about this) is being hit.
monk14580 Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 Thanks for the help. Can't find any rainforest biomes in my world either but found several bamboo forests. I assume those are of the jungle variety? Still haven't found any of the little buggers but I'll keep looking.
Kalbintion Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 I'm not sure those count as a jungle biome. I personally have quite a few around in my world but havent noticed any ocelots spawn there. If you are able to find a biome though that has jungle leaves/logs on most of the trees, you should be in a good biome for ocelots.
monk14580 Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 Great. Thanks for the tips. I'll keep an eye out for jungle wood/leaves.
Kalbintion Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Also, keep in mind there are a ton of new biomes in the modpack so finding a jungle one may not happen right away. I spent a good hour once looking for a Mystic Forest before I found one, and some other biomes (like Alps) that i wasnt looking for but ran into for the first time in the +-5000X/Z area im limiting my server to.
monk14580 Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 Finally found a jungle ~2500 blocks away from my base. Still looking for that elusive ocelot but at least I found a biome that should work!
Kalbintion Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Hope you brought a safari net or two so you can take them home and breed/spawn them.
