SOMEBODY HELP!

I've been trying to connect to one of my friends servers and everytime a try to connect its says

Internal exception: java.net.SocketException: Software caused connection abort: recv failed

Please help me

There are a couple of things I've encountered which caused this same error, beyond that I haven't the foggiest...

First, are you playing with the same client as the server? (Vanilla client for vanilla server, tekkit client for tekkit server, etc.)

Second, if you are playing on a tekkit server with the tekkit client, have you upgraded your version of Java to JRE 1.7u3 (32bit/64bit depending on your windows install)?

The first thing my wife found by accident by trying to play on my Tekkit server with her original minecraft client, the second thing I found when originally trying to get Tekkit server and the Tekkit client to work.

Also, just for future reference, I'm pretty sure things like this should be posted on the bug board, but I could be wrong... If you come back and one of the mods moved your thread to the bug board, that's why it happened! :)

Have/Are you...

1. running the same version of Tekkit as the server?

2. have installed any additional mods the server might be running?

3. on the server's whitelist (if it uses one)?
