Server issues - not whitelisted?

So I've been trying to create a server with a host (picklehosting.com) and my server doesn't register my account or my friends accounts as whitelisted. nothing in the server console comes up aswell.

try to move all the mods and try to delete the whitelist file, then go ingame and do /whitelist add [nam]

(you can only use that command if you use Essentials i belive

I figured out the error, I changed the 

server-ip=IP HERE

to nothing and it worked.
