DanielUSA Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 (edited) This is my mob spawner. I just realized I could remove one of the "water channels" (they have conveyers) and have 2 walls with fans but.... One of the fans is on a double block so I have to run red alloy wire on the outside wall to give my fan signal. I don't really mind it but I am certain there has to be a way to keep all the redstone tucked away. In the second picture the fan 8 and fan 9 don't get powered from the bottom because they are on a double block. The only way I can give them power is by running the wire like the first picture shows. Loader Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Fans have quite a large area, and when you place them they face towards you so they can point out in a semicircle if you desire. If it was me, I'd either; Remove some of the fans that are hard to reach and turn the others slightly to push anything that's out of the range of the other fans Just place the fans directly on redstone blocks Kalbintion 1
Kalbintion Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 It's hard to tell where the wires are running. Then again, i'm more of an in-person redstone simplifier/efficiencier (efficiencier = a person who makes something more efficient)
DanielUSA Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 If I were to replace the blocks under the fans with redstone blocks would they all get powered of one gets powered?

I tried it before.
Loader Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 The blocks next to a redstone block get power, so if you just sat the fans on redstone blocks they'd all get power, yes.
Kalbintion Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 If im not mistaken - wasnt the original purpose of that redstone setup to have an on/off for the fans?
DanielUSA Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 No, the On/Off trigger is an entity detector set to "Monster". The purpose of this topic is to be able to remove the wire (in the first picture) that is on the outside and place it underneath. If making a line of redstone blocks causes each block to get a signal by powering only one block then I will replace the blocks under my fans with redstone.
Loader Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Ah, no - the redstone blocks create a signal - they can't be turned off. They won't work for that (the fans would always be on).
DanielUSA Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Oh yeah that wouldn't work because I would have to put a torch underneath the redstone block to invert the signal and that would cause me to have to break a block to put a torch.
Kalbintion Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 (edited) No, Redstone Blocks always emit a signal of 15 and cannot be turned off. Edit: Pistons do not count to turning them off, since they still emit a signal of 15, just in a different location. Edit 2: Btw, a great way to get rid of wiring is to use Tinkers' Mechworks' wire system, it can help lessen the need to have the wires and can go through blocks without issue (limit of 16 blocks, i believe, in distance) Edited July 16, 2014 by Kalbintion
DanielUSA Posted July 17, 2014 Author Posted July 17, 2014 At first I tried to use the mechworks wire but I would have needed to place a terminal (Is that what it's called? Looks like a traffic cone?) under each fan. Then I still run into the fan that has to have energy run through 2 solid blocks.
