enterprise12 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Hey, recently i am going to be cancelling my current server host, and im looking for a good server hosting service that can support a good amount of players with at least 4GB of RAM and a decent processor as my server can get fairly populated. So far these are the best deals i have found so far, and im wondering what are your opinions! 1. BisectHosting(Formerly ProMinecraftHost): http://www.bisecthosting.com/clients/cart.php?a=confproduct&i=2 I was signed up with them in a partnership, but i didnt get enough affiliates and am now looking into more options that arent drastically expensive. I was previously using Plan # 8, worked perfectly, $35 isnt too bad and i know they got great quality. 2. Spartan Host: http://spartanhost.org/ They seem decent, but one can never be to sure, i was looking under "Budget MC Servers" 4GB plan, was $20. i never believe space, etc is "Unlimited" so what do you think? 3. Host Horde: https://www.hosthorde.com/ I havent heard anything bad about them, $25 for unlimited plan? I would appreciate any advice or information you have for me! My plan is being terminated by September, thanks! Quote

enterprise12 Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 (edited) Hm, not bad, how much ram do you think would really be needed? i run a little over a dozen plugins, as wel as about 148 mods. 4GB ran it perfect, im not sure if i should go below that Are the hosts i listeed any good? enterprise12 Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 No im aware of that, im a computer repair technichian, i just dont want to end up buying a low amount of Ram and the server not handling it well, i believe all these servers have Xeon processors, its a matter of how good they are, what do you think of the onesi posted because they are cheaper Quote
disconsented Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Having even 200 mods is nothing of a ram concern, but rather CPU. So is the amount of players, world generation, and so forth. (Many people are missleaded into thinking it's ram that's needed. It's not) Though, 4GB of ram is in-fact perfect but just make sure the GHZ of your processor is 3.0 or higher. Especially with a modpack.Hertz is not a measurement of performance http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megahertz_myth Quote
enterprise12 Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 Listen i just want to know your opinions on these server hosts, can we get back on topic please D: Quote
enterprise12 Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 This isnt some smalls server, i have many players who play any could go up to a few dozen, im not expecting 80 but would say at the very max 40-50 with 10-12 plugins Quote
enterprise12 Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 I have gone over the ones you listed and mine, i think Host Horde is good, they supposedly have great support. https://www.hosthorde.com/plans/ They have Xeon E5 - 1650 v2 (or higher) processors, and the unlimited plan is $25 it has been confirmed it isnt literally unlimited, but provides at least 4 GB of RAM. Nentify Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Akliz are very good for shared hosting, as well as dedicated servers. I would stay away from Intreppid for now however, they've had a lot of network issues in the past. Quote
enterprise12 Posted August 12, 2014 Author Posted August 12, 2014 I decided on Host Horde. They give 6GB of ram on their unlimited plan, and their Xeon processors are just as good as other hosts. As well as their network speeds Quote

disconsented Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 (edited) Actually it is relevant / statistic to the "measurement of performance". But, not the sole reason of such. Obviously, other things must come into account; like the architect of such processor. When comming into account with Minecraft, GHZ and Architect matters, and it matters for greater performance.Hz is only relevant when comparing the same micro-architecture(especially now that the Ghz war has ended). For everything else there is Benchmarking Edited August 13, 2014 by disconsented Quote

enterprise12 Posted August 14, 2014 Author Posted August 14, 2014 Why is this topic still open, i asked for one thing, your opinion on the hosts i chose but i didnt get that and there is an argument over processors. When generally any xeon processor will get the job done Quote
Torezu Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 My question would be, "Why is this whole misbegotten thread even in Cafe Lame in the first place?" There's a section for server hosting chat, and probably even some threads in there with good host recommendations. Edit: I moved it instead of just locking it. Quote
