Amantis Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Are there any other converters? My old quarry used these and I really liked it but they took out the forestry mod and now I have no idea what to do!! Steam engines overheat and require fuel, and combustion engines also require fuel (oil). I make tons of EU and I want to use this to power all my things.
jakj Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I'd be extremely inefficient, but you could make fuel to burn in steam engines using UU-matter.
Esiliare Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 try downloading the 4096 Block IDs patch and install the BC-IC2 crossover mod. It adds multiple types of engines that run off of EU. I use these myself and they work perfectly. Having a ton of industrial engines producing 819 MJ a tick is amazing.
Bahnmor Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 If you don't mind a little more setup you could use an EE collector mk1 and a condenser set to make charcoal, then use a simple provider/supplier logistic pipe network to keep three steam engines running. The quarry runs at a nice speed, the engines won't overheat and I have found that the one condenser/collector 1 setup can easily supply four steam engines.
pardux Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 i started just using 90+ redstone engines in a array thingie, very cheap and you dont have to check on them
Jusupov Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 i started just using 90+ redstone engines in a array thingie, very cheap and you dont have to check on them Once you don't need them for a quarry you can then turn them to making EU's for you. Only needs ~11 to get 1 eu/t. The pneumatic machine needed for this is in tekkit at least.
Torezu Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Once you don't need them for a quarry you can then turn them to making EU's for you. Only needs ~11 to get 1 eu/t. The pneumatic machine needed for this is in tekkit at least. But oh, the lag! Also, the frame quarry. But what am I saying, when there are 50 different ways to do something with Tekkit/Technic, pretty soon there will be 51 people, all with their own way to do it. :)
Torezu Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 As it should be. No arguments here. I just started a new map to try out 7.0.1, and my base consists of a 4x5 box, 3 high, with a door. I go minimalist at the beginning. In there is a generator, 2 macerators, an electric furnace, an extractor, 2 alchemical chests, 6 regular furnaces for bulk processing, a bed, a crafting table, a ladder heading down to bedrock, and a couple of torches. Others I know couldn't stand being so cramped. But this game will always be fun because there will always be More To Do.
MadMac81 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 What ever did happen with the power converters that used to be in technic?
chris6273 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Im glad I found this thread after seeing the news of the Forestry Mod no longer being supported in future versions of Tekkit. This 'BC-IC2 crossover mod' - Does it allow you to connect an electric engine (Which runs off the old Fibre/Cable EU network) to a Wooden Pipe to suck items out of an item so to speak? So at the moment I have: Chest - Wooden Transport Pipe (Powered by an electrical engine from EU) - Cobblestone Transport pipe - chest. Will the mod allow me to replace the equivalent electrical engine when forestry is removed with another which does the same job powered off of EU? I'm a tad confused on how it works :L Edit: Will the Energy Link likely still be Present in new versions?
